CheckMyManuscript vs AutoCrit
AutoCrit is a platform you write and self-edit in. The Book Manuscript Review reads a finished manuscript once and returns a report. Here is how they compare for a novel.
Review my manuscript, $50$50, paid once · Refunded if you're not satisfied · PDF and Word, up to 400 pages
AutoCrit describes itself as an online manuscript editing tool for fiction and non-fiction writers to self-edit their work. As of November 2026, its pricing page lists a free plan (a writing platform with select editing tools: adverbs, word choice and readability) and a Pro plan, monthly or annual, that adds more than 25 editing tools, pacing and dialogue reports, a Summary Report with an AutoCrit Score, genre style comparison, a Story Analyzer, Automated Alpha and Beta Readers, and ePub and PDF export. CheckMyManuscript's Book Manuscript Review is one product: you upload the finished manuscript and get one PDF report on language, structure, typos and inconsistencies across the book, for $50 paid once. The two do different jobs.

Why researchers choose CheckMyManuscript
No subscription
One payment of $50 for the manuscript, refunded if you are not satisfied. Nothing to cancel when the book is done.
One read of the whole book
The review reads the manuscript in one pass, so a name spelled differently in chapter 3 and chapter 30, or a date that cannot be right, is reported with both passages in mind.
Your words stay yours
Every finding quotes the passage and suggests a fix. Voice and stylistic choices are treated as yours: only what reads as unintended is flagged.
Choosing between them
For one job: a read of a finished manuscript before beta readers, an editor or publication. For writing and self-editing chapter by chapter, simulated readers or genre comparison, AutoCrit offers things the review does not. They can be used together.
